When it comes to autumn/winter wear, the first thing many associate is today’s hot topic: the blazer. In all variations a blazer is timeless, stylish and practical.

Look Two: Winter Warmer

A club blazer doesn’t have to be reserved for more formal occasions, it can work exceptionally well within your everyday looks. The addition of a tailored piece into your casual ensemble will instantly make you look more put together.

A blazer layered over the top of a roll-neck is an easy go-to casual look. Opt for coloured styles to inject some personality while also keeping with the current standout trends. Desert boots are a casual yet structured choice for your feet.

  Look Three: Layering Up

One of the secrets to a successful autumn/winter look is perfect layering. Couple a shirt and cable-knit jumper underneath the blazer – the subtle patterning of the knitwear will again add more texture and separation to the outfit. Wear jeans on the bottom half to keep the look casual while emphasising the hardwearing aesthetic.  Leather gloves are a perfect autumn/winter accessory and so much sharper than their knitted counterparts.

The national event, opened by HRH The Prince of Wales, is now in full swing and is dedicated to all things woollen.  The organisers rightly highlight the resurgence of this great British industry that Perry is proud to be part of.  Our bespoke, tailored club blazers are made of the finest wool yarn. To us it’s no surprise the British have rediscovered this magical product.  Wool is warm, natural, durable, renewable and biodegradable. And great to wear.  That’s why our customers often tell us our blazers are incredibly comfortable and smart at the same time.

Yes, wool is cool and wool manufacturers like ourselves are doing brisk business.  The Campaign for Wool that organised this fourth annual Wool Week, has planned a nationwide programme of exhibitions, shows and initiatives to reconnect British people with this timeless product that has played such a significant part in the nation’s history.

How a Blazer Should Fit

A blazer should fit in the same fashion a suit jacket or a sports coat

• Room in the shoulders to allow full arm movement but not so much room that the shoulders are over extending the shoulder points by more than ½ inch.
• Room in the chest to fully button the jacket but not enough to fit a baseball inside.
• The blazer jacket sleeves should extend to the wrist bone and show ¼ to ¾ an inch of shirt cuff when standing straight.
• The jacket length should always fully cover your backside – it can be a bit longer if you are taller than six foot, and should lean on the shorter side if you are shorter than five foot six.

It's all about the Buttons.
Itchenor Sailing Club links its buttons, blazers and boats, overcoming challenges along the way.

Perry Club blazers are as individual as every owner is.  They are made to fit perfectly and they proudly display the unique club crest.  But Itchenor takes customisation even further than this.

Justifiably proud of their world-beating achievements in the International 14 class, the club came up with an original idea to link their Perry club blazers to their beloved boats: carbon fibre.  The boats are made of carbon fibre so why not the buttons as well?  So they decided to use this strong, lightweight material to connect their emblematic blazers to their craft.  But carbon fibre buttons proved to be a challenge.  Engraving logos was tricky enough but not as hard as drilling all the holes and attaching screw eyes.  But 220 buttons later the indefatigable team had fixed all these problems, proving that teams can do just about anything if they set their minds to it.

Itchenor Sailing Club proud of performance and appearance

Itchenor Sailing Club, just back from its triumph in the World Championships (International 14 class), told Perry Club how their blazers cut a dash at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club from where the competition was held.

"We had two formal prize-givings, one for the team competition and one for individuals.  Our Perry blazers were out in force on both occasions," one team member told us.  This photo shows the great effect  these individually tailored fine woollen jackets created. They did justice to Itchenor's current success and its proud sailing heritage.

Normally team kit for a sailing regatta consists of t-shirts or polo shirts at best so these personalised Itchenor-branded blazers caused quite a stir setting the club apart from all the others and at the same time reinforcing the great sense of team spirit and community - vital ingredients at this level of competition.
