Blazers will ‘Create a rainbow of colour along the banks of the River Thames’ at Henley Royal Regatta this year (Lucy Waterlow, Daily Mail)
Blazers
are as much a part of the regatta's history as the spectacle of the athletes on
the water. The name ‘blazers’ was established in 1825 when the rowing club of
St John’s College Cambridge ‘set the river ablaze’ with their bright red
jackets, and the name stuck. Heritage
and tradition play an integral part in Perry Club’s blazer production as the
clubs bespoke cloth is woven in the club colours often matching the oar tips or
the colours of the boathouse.
The prestigious item of clothing is a symbol of
the Henley Royal Regatta and other rowing competitions around the world. We
look forward to viewing the many competitors, spectators and former oarsmen in
their rowing blazers this year.
